ABOUT
RED DRAGONS
The origin of Red Dragons goes back to the summer
of 2000
when Coach Devesin was the head coach of Track & Field
at La Salle Academy. Coach Devesin started a summer program to keep
his City Championship team in shape. Although the program started
out with only Track & Field
athletes, it grew as athletes from other sports would show
up looking for training help.
In 2002 Coach Novoa joined our
group bringing in his football and physical training expertise to
an eager athletic community. In 2003 Red Dragons left Manhattan and
began to work out of McClancy High School in East Elmhurst
and the Astoria Track in Queens, New York. Today members of
our first group have come back to help coach.
Coach Cruz and
Simmons, respectively, currently participate in Division I University
athletics. They bring their own experiences to our program and help
individuals understand the training it takes to compete at the college
level.
Red Dragons is open the both male and female High
School athletes. Through guidance, athletes are encouraged to make
good food, technique and life choices. We hope the
athletes understand the importance of taking care of their bodies
by being drug-free, maintaining adequate rest, as well as, becoming
self-disciplined and motivated.
